Grok Bot Lets AI Agents Run Their Own Group Chat — and Sign Into Your Accounts

SpaceXAI opens a beta in which multiple bots supervise each other, divide ownership, and log into the apps a user already works in

AI Summary
SpaceXAI opened a beta of Grok Bot, in which multiple agents run continuously on a shared cloud computer, coordinate in group chats, assign ownership of tasks to one another and sign directly into a user's existing apps and accounts, according to The Verge. The credential access distinguishes it from chat assistants and raises the stakes for regulated industries. The product was dogfooded internally on sales, marketing and bug fixes before launch.

The most unusual detail in SpaceXAI's new Grok Bot beta, reported by The Verge, is not that an agent can finish a task on its own. It is that several of them can be dropped into a group chat, sort out who owns which piece of a project, and message one another directly when their assignments overlap — without a human arranging any of it.

That is a different proposition from the assistant model most subscribers know. Grok Bot instances run continuously inside a shared cloud-based computer, and one can be appointed to oversee the rest while they work in parallel on separate specialties. A user hands over an assignment by messaging a bot the way they would a colleague, and hears nothing back until the work is done or a decision needs a human signature.

The Credential Question

Making that work requires something users have not previously been asked for. The bots sign into the apps, tools and websites already in someone's daily rotation, operating those accounts directly rather than passing suggestions back for a person to execute. The Verge did not soften this point, and it is the detail that will govern how quickly the product reaches regulated industries.

Pasting a document into a chat window and issuing standing credentials to software that acts unsupervised are not adjacent risks. One exposes text. The other exposes whatever those accounts can reach, on a schedule nobody is watching in real time.

Memory Is the Feature

SpaceXAI is leaning on persistence rather than raw capability. The bots capture existing workflows as they observe them, hold onto context about how a particular person handles a task, and reproduce that individual's voice in output. They can also return to abandoned threads, resume work from old conversations, and inherit handovers.

The stated trajectory is that this accumulates. Over time, the company says, bots begin acting before being asked and learn to recognize which items genuinely warrant escalation — a claim that will be far easier to evaluate after a few months of beta use than at launch.

Dogfooded Before Shipped

Grok Bot was an internal system first. SpaceXAI says the prototype had already been carrying sales outreach, marketing, office operations and bug fixes inside the company before it became a product, which is a more informative signal than most launch messaging: it indicates which categories of work the company found the bots reliable enough to trust.

Elon Musk's AI company is late to the workplace tier that OpenAI, Anthropic and Microsoft have each staked out over the past year. Arriving late with a multi-agent coordination story rather than a single smarter assistant is a legible attempt at differentiation, though it also multiplies the number of things that can go wrong unattended.

Who Can Try It

Access is deliberately narrow. The beta runs on desktop and iOS for SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra and Cursor Teams Premium subscribers only, with a waitlist open to teams and enterprise customers.

Restricting the first wave to top-paying individual subscribers keeps early failures contained while the bots learn to behave inside live accounts. Enterprise buyers, who will ask harder questions about audit trails and revocation before granting any of this access, get to watch first.
