Biography

Amazon Web Services is the cloud computing division of Amazon and the largest public cloud provider by revenue. Launched in 2006 with storage and compute services, it now sells hundreds of managed products covering databases, networking, analytics and machine learning, and operates data center regions worldwide. For AI workloads it offers Amazon Bedrock, which resells third-party foundation models behind a single API, the SageMaker training and deployment platform, custom Trainium and Inferentia accelerators built in-house, and the AgentCore stack for building and governing AI agents. AWS is also a major investor in Anthropic and a primary compute supplier to that company, giving it a stake in the frontier model race as well as in the infrastructure beneath it. Its pricing and capacity decisions set the practical cost floor for most companies deploying AI.
