Biography

Apple is an American technology company that designs consumer hardware, software and services, including the iPhone, Mac, iPad and Apple Watch, along with the operating systems and App Store that connect them. It designs its own silicon, the M-series and A-series chips, which gives it unusual control over how machine learning runs on devices people already own. Its generative AI platform, Apple Intelligence, is built around on-device processing with a Private Cloud Compute tier for larger requests, a deliberately different posture from competitors that send every request to a server. Apple entered generative AI later than its peers and has relied in part on outside models, which has made the gap between its privacy positioning and its capability a recurring subject.
