Biography

Cerebras Systems is a United States artificial intelligence hardware company that builds wafer-scale processors. Instead of cutting a silicon wafer into many separate chips, Cerebras keeps the wafer whole, producing a single accelerator called the Wafer-Scale Engine with hundreds of thousands of cores and very large on-chip memory bandwidth. The design's advantage is that a model can stay resident on one piece of silicon rather than being split across many chips connected by slower links, which the company argues makes it particularly well suited to inference at high token rates. It sells rack-scale systems and also operates a hosted inference service that serves open and partner models. In a market dominated by GPU clusters, Cerebras is one of the few alternative architectures shipping at production scale.
