Biography

Suno is a Cambridge, Massachusetts AI music startup whose models generate complete songs, including vocals and instrumentation, from text prompts. Founded in 2022, it became one of the fastest-growing consumer AI products and one of the most litigated, drawing copyright suits from major record labels over the data used to train its early models. The company settled with Warner Music Group in November 2025 and signed BMG in August 2026, both deals built around opt-in structures that let participating artists license their names, voices and compositions for AI-generated work. Suits from Universal Music Group and Sony Music remain active. Suno has raised more than $819 million to date.
