Biography

Vercel is a United States cloud platform company that hosts and deploys web applications and maintains Next.js, the widely used React framework. Founded as ZEIT and later renamed, it built its business around a developer workflow in which a Git push triggers a build and a globally distributed deployment, with a preview environment created for every change. Next.js has become one of the most common foundations for production React sites, which gives Vercel unusual influence over front-end conventions. More recently the company has moved into AI tooling, shipping an SDK for building model-backed applications and services aimed at running agents alongside web workloads. It also initiated Agent Plugins, a vendor-neutral specification for extending AI agents with third-party capabilities, positioning itself in the standards layer rather than only the hosting layer.
