Biography

Volta is an AI cloud infrastructure startup founded in January 2026 by former Brookfield Asset Management executives. It builds and operates data center capacity dedicated to AI training and inference, and its investor group includes Nvidia, Andreessen Horowitz, Altimeter and Azora, a mix of chip supplier and growth capital that reflects how closely compute supply and financing are now linked. The company belongs to the class of neocloud providers that lease GPU capacity to AI labs and enterprises rather than running a full general-purpose cloud, competing with established hyperscalers on price and delivery speed. Its founders' background in infrastructure asset management is central to the model, since building AI data centers is now as much a power, land and project finance problem as a technology one.
