Where the money goes

Chief executive Arthur Mensch has said the plan is to build and own data centres while continuing to rent additional capacity, working toward 1 GW of compute in Europe by 2030. In August the company shipped controls letting customers pick which regions process their queries, and it has begun hosting third-party open-weight models, Chinese ones included.

That last move drew criticism that Mistral was drifting toward being an inference provider rather than a frontier lab.
