AMD Data Center Sales Nearly Double to $8.5B

AMD said Nov. 3, 2026, that third-quarter revenue rose 45% to a record $13.4 billion as data center sales grew 97% to $8.5 billion on EPYC CPUs and new Instinct MI450 GPUs. It guided fourth-quarter revenue to about $17 billion, plus or minus 3%.

Advanced Micro Devices said Nov. 3, 2026, that its data center revenue nearly doubled in the third quarter to $8.5 billion, lifting total sales 45% to a record $13.4 billion. The chipmaker also forecast fourth-quarter revenue of about $17 billion as it ramps its Helios rack-scale AI systems built on Instinct MI450 GPUs.

Key takeaways

  • Q3 2026 revenue was $13.38 billion, up 45% from a year earlier and above the $12.7 billion to $13.3 billion range AMD guided in August.
  • Data center sales rose 97% to $8.55 billion, now about 64% of AMD's total revenue, while gaming fell 40% to $773 million.
  • AMD guided Q4 revenue to about $17 billion, plus or minus 3%, implying roughly 66% year-over-year growth.

AMD Q3 2026 earnings: the numbers

Revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 26 came to $13.377 billion, up 16% from $11.536 billion in the second quarter, according to the earnings release AMD filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. In August, the company had guided to about $13 billion, plus or minus $300 million.

Profit grew faster than sales. GAAP net income rose 95% to $2.4 billion, or $1.46 a diluted share. On a non-GAAP basis, AMD earned $3.5 billion, or $2.09 a share, up 74%. GAAP gross margin was 54% and non-GAAP gross margin was 56%, both up 2 points from a year earlier.

"We delivered a record quarter with revenue exceeding the high end of our guidance," Chair and CEO Lisa Su said in the release.

Data center growth: EPYC CPUs and MI450 GPUs

AMD credited the data center jump to demand for its EPYC server processors and the launch of its Instinct MI450 Series GPUs. The segment's operating income rose to $2.88 billion from $1.07 billion a year earlier and $2.10 billion in the second quarter.

The company said Anthropic, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure are running models and workloads on its first Helios rack-scale systems, which pair MI450 GPUs with 6th Gen EPYC CPUs. HPE said Vultr will deploy the first Helios systems built by HPE. AMD also released version 10 of its ROCm software stack.

Gaming slump and PC gains

Gaming revenue fell 40% to $773 million on lower semi-custom and graphics sales. Semi-custom chips go into game consoles. Client processor sales rose 7% to $2.9 billion on Ryzen mobile demand, and embedded revenue grew 29% to $1.1 billion, led by aerospace and defense, automotive, communications and industrial customers.

Context: AMD's push to rival Nvidia

The quarter extends a run of rapid AI-driven growth. In the second quarter, AMD's data center revenue rose 107% to $6.7 billion. The company has also agreed to acquire model developer World Labs and inference-chip startup Taalas, and the EuroHPC Joint Undertaking picked AMD's MI430X GPUs for the LUMI-AI supercomputer.

Data center sales made up about 64% of revenue in the latest quarter, compared with about 47% a year earlier, based on AMD's reported figures.

What's next: Q4 2026 outlook

AMD expects fourth-quarter revenue of about $17 billion, plus or minus 3%, with non-GAAP gross margin of about 55%, slightly below the third quarter's 56%. The midpoint implies about 27% sequential growth.

Su said AMD expects "growth to accelerate further in the fourth quarter as we scale Helios and 'Venice' production." Venice is the code name for AMD's 6th Gen EPYC server processors.

FAQ

Did AMD beat its own forecast?

Yes. Revenue of $13.38 billion topped the high end of the $12.7 billion to $13.3 billion range AMD gave in August.

Why did AMD's gaming revenue drop?

AMD attributed the 40% decline to lower semi-custom revenue, which includes console chips, and lower graphics revenue.

What is AMD Helios?

Helios is AMD's rack-scale AI system that combines Instinct MI450 GPUs with 6th Gen EPYC CPUs. AMD said its first systems are running workloads for Anthropic, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI and Oracle.
