Apple Opens Siri AI to All App Developers
Apple on Nov. 3, 2026, opened Siri AI to all developers through a Developer Preview in the iOS, iPadOS, macOS and visionOS 27.3 betas. Apps can expose custom actions, multi-step skills and Spotlight entities via App Intents; App Store submission opens in the spring, the EU remains excluded on iPhone and iPad, and expanded server-side use will later carry a fee.
Apple on Nov. 3, 2026, opened Siri AI to every app developer through a Developer Preview in the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3 betas, letting third-party apps expose their content and actions to the rebuilt assistant through the App Intents framework. App Store submissions for the new integrations open in the spring, Apple said on its developer news site.

Key takeaways
- Any developer can now build Siri AI integrations in the 27.3 betas; App Store submission opens in the spring.
- Apps can offer custom actions, multi-step "skills" and any entity in the Spotlight semantic index, not only items that fit Apple's existing schemas.
- Siri AI remains unavailable in the EU on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, and Apple says expanded use of server-side features will later cost a fee.
What the Siri AI developer preview lets apps do
Through App Intents, users can phrase requests in their own words and Siri AI can carry out an app's custom actions, such as checking a delivery, booking a reservation or placing an order, Apple said. Integrations can draw on Siri AI's personal context understanding, onscreen awareness and natural language understanding.
Developers can also create skills, which teach Siri AI to chain several actions into one experience for a complex request. A separate change lets apps surface any entity in the Spotlight semantic index, rather than only entities that match a predefined schema.
Apple said Siri AI capabilities are rolling out across 15 of its own apps, including Calendar, Files, Mail, Maps, Messages, Notes, Photos, Reminders, Safari and Shortcuts, and that users can ask the assistant what it can do in each one.
Siri AI release timeline and languages
Apple called the release an early look at Siri AI app intents. "This preview provides early access before first shipping to customers in a few months," the company wrote, adding that it will publish more on terms and usage policies for Siri AI-enabled experiences.
The preview works now in English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese are listed as coming soon. It requires an Apple Intelligence-enabled device set to a supported language and is not available to users under 13.
EU limits and usage caps
"Siri AI is currently unavailable in the EU in iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS," Apple said, adding that it is "working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward."
Apple also said features that rely on server-side models, including Siri AI, are subject to daily usage limits that vary with request complexity and system demand. "Expanded access to such features will be available for a fee in the future," the post said, without giving prices.
Context: from WWDC to the 27.3 betas
Apple first described App Intents as the bridge between apps and Siri AI at WWDC on June 8, 2026. Its developer tools announcement that day also introduced a language model protocol for using third-party models such as Claude and Gemini, and free cloud access to Apple's Foundation Models for Small Business Program developers with fewer than 2 million first-time downloads.
Apple said thousands of developers have already built Siri integrations for tasks like getting directions, managing to-do lists and sending messages. The new preview widens that work from fixed intents to the conversational assistant.
What's next
Apple is hosting Apple Intelligence group labs with its engineers on Nov. 4 from 9 to 10 a.m. PT and Nov. 5 from 6 to 7 p.m. PT. The open questions are the usage terms, the price of expanded access and when EU iPhone users get the assistant.
