Ex-GitHub CEO's Entire Opens Agent Git Forge
Entire, founded by former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke, opened a Git-compatible forge for AI coding agents on Oct. 26, swapping pull requests for agent-scored evals and claiming 418 pushes per second versus GitHub's 4.7 in its own test.
Entire, the startup founded by former GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke, on Oct. 26 opened a Git-compatible code forge built for AI coding agents. It replaces the pull request with agent-scored "evals" and says it handles pushes up to 89 times faster than GitHub.

Key takeaways
- Entire's "Trails" swap the diff-based pull request for a dashboard of eval scores that agents compute on every push.
- The company claims 418 pushes per second in its own benchmark, versus 65 for Cursor's Origin and 4.7 for GitHub.
- Entire is open to any developer now; the launch post lists no pricing.
What is Entire's Git forge for agents?
In a launch post, Dohmke, Entire's co-founder and CEO, called the product "the first Git forge built specifically for agent-human collaboration." It rests on three pieces: Trails for review, distributed Git hosting, and a feature called Continuous Memory.
"Source control is at a breaking point," the post said. Dohmke told ITPro that agents "now write almost all" code, "faster and more complex than ever before."
How Trails replace the pull request
Each eval runs as its own agent in an isolated cloud sandbox and returns a score with a rationale. Entire's internal examples include Security, Slop and Human Review Required. Findings carry severity levels, and agents or humans can fix or dismiss them.
Under the hood, the evals run on Claude Code and Codex in sandboxes from Daytona and E2B. Teams can add custom agents through the interface or a JSON file in the repository. Optional per-repo "gates" can still require human approvals and passing CI before a merge.
"When all evals are satisfied, they can merge the code without needing to look at the code itself," Dohmke told ITPro. Buildkite and Depot are launch CI partners, and both offer commands to convert existing GitHub Actions workflows.
Entire vs. GitHub push speed claims
Entire says it built a new Git server with a distributed object store and a transactional ref database. Its chart lists pushes per second as follows. The figures come from Entire, not an independent test.
| Forge | Pushes/sec |
|---|---|
| Entire | 418 |
| Cursor Origin | 65 |
| Pierre | 15 |
| GitLab | 10 |
| GitHub | 4.7 |
The tool behind the numbers, ForgeMark, is published under the MIT license. Its README describes concurrent push and clone runs through go-git at concurrency levels from 1 to 128, but the repository does not publish result files, so the chart cannot yet be checked against raw data.
Hosting is live in the U.S., EU, Australia and India. Teams can mirror GitHub repositories while GitHub stays the source of truth; during a GitHub outage, agents can keep pushing to special "entire/unmirrored/" branches.
Continuous Memory and open-source tools
Agent sessions and prompts sync into the Git repository, where coding agents can search them. "The repository is the only memory your agent should need," the post said.
Two open-source, local-first tools support this. entire-graph builds a map of a codebase with tree-sitter and makes no network or model calls; Entire reports up to 71% token savings in its own testing. entire-brain indexes agent sessions into durable memories.
Context: the race to replace GitHub
Dohmke announced in August 2025 that he would step down at GitHub. Entire raised a $60 million seed round at a $300 million valuation on Feb. 10, 2026, led by Felicis with Madrona, Microsoft's M12 and others. Its first product, Checkpoints, was an open-source CLI that stored agent context with each Git commit.
Entire is not alone. Cursor announced its Git-based Origin hosting service on Aug. 17, with GitHub syncing and Buildkite and Depot connectors. The shift also raises review questions; earlier research covered on this site found LLM bug-fixers that broke working code.
What's next
Entire has not published pricing or plan tiers. The open questions for teams are whether independent runs of ForgeMark reproduce the speed gap and whether eval-only merging holds up on security-sensitive code.
FAQ
Is Entire a replacement for GitHub?
It can be. Teams can mirror GitHub repositories, keeping GitHub as the source of truth, or migrate fully with a plugin or a manual fetch and push.
Does Entire let AI merge code without human review?
It can, if all evals pass. Repository owners can enable gates that require human approval and passing CI checks before any merge.
